POSITION SUMMARY
This position combines administrative support, recruitment efforts, and customer relations for the Student Recruitment Office, with a special emphasis on STEM program recruitment. The role involves assisting with office operations, coordinating campus tours, recruiting for general and STEM-specific programs, and developing relationships with external agencies to attract students. The individual will also assist with marketing, enrollment events, and retention efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Administrative Support:
* Provide general administrative assistance to the Student Recruitment Office.
* Prepare purchase orders, work orders, and manage office supplies.
* Handle phone, email, and in-person communications, maintaining a welcoming environment.
* Utilize word processing, CRM, database management, Excel, and Microsoft 365 for office functions.
* Assist in preparing written reports, surveys, and maintaining recruitment files and reports.
* Recruitment and Outreach:
* Assist in the recruitment and retention of prospective and current students for general and STEM-specific programs.
* Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit students into STEM programs.
* Coordinate with marketing and academic departments to promote and expand STEM offerings.
* Build partnerships with community-based organizations, local industries, and workforce agencies to enhance recruitment efforts.
* Organize and participate in campus tours, college fairs, and other recruiting events, ensuring effective communication with prospective students.
* Customer Relations and Event Coordination:
* Greet and assist students, families, and visitors in person and over the phone.
* Coordinate communication efforts, including sending mailings to prospective students, parents, counselors, and principals.
* Plan, organize, and execute recruitment and enrollment events on and off campus.
* Maintain schedule of student workers and assist in their coordination for recruitment events.
* STEM-Focused Responsibilities:
* Lead recruitment efforts specifically targeting STEM programs, developing specialized outreach initiatives.
* Collaborate with academic affairs to identify emerging STEM program needs and propose new offerings.
* Actively engage in community outreach to promote STEM programs through industry visits and networking.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, STEM, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).
* Minimum of two years of experience in an office setting, preferably in a recruitment or administrative role.
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Experience working with high school students and sensitivity to the needs of economically disadvantaged youth.
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, with the ability to learn new software.
* Willingness to travel (up to 75%) for STEM recruitment activities and other outreach events.
