The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) was established in 1982 and is the primary provider of services and emergency shelter for Washtenaw County individuals. SAWC is housed at the Robert J. Delonis Center in downtown Ann Arbor. SAWC works with a diverse range of people struggling with homelessness, including first-time homelessness, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and people battling substance abuse and/or mental health issues. Services are offered through our core programs: Residential Emergency Shelter, Non-Residential, Shelter Diversion, Critical-Time Intervention, and Warming Shelter. The SAWC serves almost 1500 people annually.Mission: Ending homelessness, one person at a time.Position Profile: This position works as an active member of the Shelter Operations Team and is charged with the smooth operation of the offsite 12 bed Recuperative Care program during their assigned shift. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring the safety of all guests and performing duties in a manner that is consistent with the overall mission of the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County. The position works in tandem with the Recuperative Care Coordinator and the onsite part time nurse team to coordinate and meet individual client needs, including access to meals, supplies, and care to recuperate from a post acute medical need. The schedule includes Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30am to 7pm. Full time staff have access to benefits including, employee assistance program, and continued professional development opportunities. Interact with clients in a non-judgmental ethical manner (see NASW Code of Ethics).3. Responsible for the operation of the offsite Recuperative care program, currently located at a local hotel.4. Be familiar with and implement SAWC policies and procedures.5. Ensure all current clients are present upon arrival and departure of the program site.6. Conduct hotel room checks for cleanliness, safety concerns, and routine medication prompting.7. Prepare and distribute client lunches. Along with picking up client dinners from the Delonis Center.8. Provide transport for clients and/or other errands with approval of supervisor.9. Supportive, empathetic, confidential listening and offering clients general assistance.10. Document various client information and activities in HMIS and staff notes professionally and appropriately.11. Support the light administrative tasks including, documentation and tracking needed for the program.12. Responsible for light cleaning in the staff hotel room and the ordering of supplies and meals for the clients.13. Welcome and orient new clients to the rules and responsibilities of the program including how your role can support their stay.14. Appropriate communication with the Recuperative Care Coordinator regarding client Leaves of Absences, Late Arrivals, and other client policy questions.15. Participate in Care Coordination Committee meetings when on shift and additional all staff meetings and trainings.16. Must be willing to work holidays if necessary.17. Must be on time for work and use a time clock to document hours.18. Other duties, as assigned.Qualifications: Associates Degree, professional certification, or alternative equivalent experience. Related experience preferred. Knowledge of housing, mental health, chemical dependency, and poverty issues helpful. Experience in social work, social services, or human services helpful as well.This person must be able to:
