Why does the job exist?This position provides program guidance and direction for the Administration unit in the Regional Office on all matters and provides administrative support to the Regional Manager and providing support to the five (5) parks in the Northwest Region. This position must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures. This position independently manages all records for the Region, including the accurate tracking of operating budgets for five (5) Parks, the Regional Office, Boating, Seasonal, YCC, and the Inmate Program. This position interacts significantly with other park administrative support positions, park superintendents/managers, regional managers, agency program manager, and agency senior management staff providing a variety of technical support functions. This position is heavily involved in vendor contract development and compliance, and ensuring procurement rules and laws are complied with within the region. This position will assist visitors and vendors, providing courteous customer service. How does it get done?The applicant will be required to perform a myriad of duties to include budget tracking and reconciliation, customer service, data management, inventory management, training in administrative functions, purchase orders, vouchers, and other administrative function . The incumbent will be required to perform many of these duties in tight time-frames and with short deadlines throughout the year. Employees in this role perform program management functions with expertise in a field or occupation and may function as a consultant, requiring high levels of complexity, problem solving, and/or accountability. Employees operate independently within diversified procedures and standards. Employees may handle deposits and cash transactions. Employees proactively interact with staff members and customers to directly influence and impact results of the programs and agency mission. Responsibilities also include other assignments determined by management to ensure the safety and success of the Northwest Region and the New Mexico State Parks Division. Who are the customers?Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the parks for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas and vendor/suppliers across the country. Minimum QualificationAssociates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. This position may require sitting for extended periods of time operating computer terminal or other office equipment or doing administrative duties. Position will require travel. One may be required to work in adverse weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
