Regional Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management for BHMG Job Description: Baptist Health is looking for a Regional Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management for Baptist Health Medical Group to join ourteam. This is a remote position that requires residency in KY. The Regional Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management for Baptist Health Medical Group will maintain effective organization in all aspects of the Patient Safety and Risk Management Program for the medical group. Specific activities include managing and directing the Patient Safety Evaluation System for assigned locations, staff education, management of small claims, and the investigation of safety events as defined in BHS Legal and Risk Management policies, maintaining appropriate records as needed to document investigation and claims and the ongoing risk management files. The Regional Director of Patient Safety and Risk Management will provide support and oversight for claims and litigation matters. The Regional Director will assure notification to the Vice President for Risk Management and Insurance Services, Associate Vice President, BHMG Risk Management, and Vice President of Operations as quickly as possible of serious incidents as they occur. The Regional Director will work with Defense Counsel and BHS litigation counsel. The Regional Patient Safety Officer-Risk Director attends and provides input during the BHS malpractice reviews for the healthcare facilities as requested. Essential Duties:
- Oversees and manages the operations of Patient Safety-Risk Management programs for the assigned Baptist Health Medical Group.
- Guides and directs the day-to-day operations of Patient Safety and Risk Management.
- Advises and consults with leadership, physicians, and staff, including being available and on call after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Provides oversight in the maintenance of investigative files on potential claims, actual claims, and litigation matters.
- Participates in the development and revision of policies and procedures for the operation of the Patient Safety-Risk Management Program.
- Reviews and updates, as necessary, all materials related to these programs to ensure continuity and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
- Identifies trends in event reporting and potential areas of patient safety, general safety, risk, and regulatory vulnerability; assists in developing and implementing corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides recommendations to prevent future risk occurrences.
- Oversees the Patient Safety Evaluation System and all related Patient Safety Activities, including the determination of Patient Safety Work Product from the healthcare facility.
- Monitors effectiveness of Risk Management and Patient Safety Activities through the Baptist Health Medical Group and ensures that PSWP is submitted to the Patient Safety Organization in a timely fashion. Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
- Bachelor's degree relevant to the scope of the role required.
- 5 years of experience in healthcare risk management required, including supervisory/leadership experience.
- Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred. Applicants must reside in Louisville or LaGrange.
