The Right of Way Bureau is made up of over 40 fulltime employees that are charged with the responsibility of designing, appraising, acquiring, and managing the required right-of-way for the Department. In that mission, the Utility section is responsible for the accommodation and relocation of utilities as part of the project delivery process and highway stewardship. This position will provide production U-event support and relocation reimbursement coordination, with District staff. As a member of the Right-of-Way team, you'll play a vital role in making sure this work is integrated into the acquisition process to ensure a coordinated and seamless delivery of highway projects for letting.

Location: DOT Central Complex, Right-of-Way Bureau, in Ames. Remote work options are available, after training period with supervisor approval.

Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Flex work schedules, with supervisor approval. Travel may be required.

As a Regional Utility Coordinator (Right of Way Agent 3), your primary focus is the coordination of utility notification events and the creation and management of reimbursement agreements that relate to impacted utility facilities on highway projects. This involves collaboration with district staff to identify utility owners and advise the companies about proposed highway construction projects, negotiating reimbursement agreements, and ensuring reimbursement payments for these relocations occur in a timely manner.

You may be dealing with utility company representatives, District Utility Coordinators and permitting staff, District Engineers, city & county representatives, consulting firms and other internal and external customers to accomplish this task. As part of the Transportation Delivery Division, this coordination role is responsible for the utility program for a defined region and to facilitate the integration of utility impact details into the right-of-way acquisition process to deliver highway projects for construction letting.

Other duties will include, but are not limited to:

* Facilitating district utility personnel interaction with software systems such as Masterworks, Electronic Permitting System, and other project and data management systems.

* Providing utility relocation estimates to develop the relocation budget for five-year highway construction program.

Special Requirement:

Obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and three years of full-time experience equal to Right of Way Agent level work in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real estate sales or management, or relocation assistance;

OR

an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required full-time experience in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real estate sales or management, or relocation assistance for one year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;

OR

an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of experience in field-commissioned sales work, right of way engineering, other real estate or development support activity. engineering survey, highway construction inspection, or as the manager of a business for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;

OR

an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting of satisfactory completion of any American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers Course, Society of Real Estate Appraiser Course, American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Course, or American Right of Way Association Course, or its equivalent for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education a maximum substitution of four years.
