JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who practices under the close, ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior analytic services. These services include providing direct interventions (in small group or 1:1 instruction) to teach communication, social, and daily living skills along with reducing problematic behaviors in the school setting. The RBT does not design intervention or assessment plans. It is the responsibility of the RBT supervisor,, the behavior analyst (BCBA) to determine which tasks an RBT may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Completes a BACB approved RBT coursework (40 total hours), passes the competency and written exam, and keeps current registration to BCBA.
* Assists the BCBA in implementing behavioral programming.
* Collects data on all programming and writes progress notes.
* Participates in in-service programs as assigned.
* Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
* Participates with all other educational professionals to include teachers, related service personnel and administrators in the service of students.
* Observes confidentiality and safeguards all student related information.
* Reports to BCBA Supervisor any student incidents/variances or complaints.
Duties:
* A Dare County Schools BCBA(board certified behavior analyst)will assess students with suspected behavioral needs
* Programming will then be developed
* Building admin or EC leads can refer students to Ms. Voight for assessment
* Students in the MTSS process can be referred as well as identified EC students
* RBT will implement the programming dependent upon assessed needs of student
* May be push in or pull out
* May be 1:1 or small group RBT will have a schedule of students to work with
* Depending on student need, it could be anything from an hour a day or just once or twice a week per student
* Intensity of programming is determined by intensity of student needs
* RBT will be able to work with other TAs or teachers
* developing and modeling strategies/interventions
* Demonstrating and/or training in how to keep data for progress monitoring
* Conducting observations for the purpose of data collection
* At the beginning of the school year, RBTs will not immediately have a set schedule
* Students have not yet been assessed for programming
* RBTs may need to observe students as part of that assessment for the purpose of data collection
* Can be used to help with EC students/teachers at large until assessments and programming are completed
RBT equipment needs:
* Small space to work 1:1 or with small groups
* Computer to input data daily
