Job Title: Registered Dietician Job Specialty: Clinical Nutrition Job Duration: 14 months Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, rotating weekends and holidays required Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of one year required, two years preferred License: NY State Office of Professionals Registered License preferred Certifications: - Certificate of Dietetic Registration (CDR) - Required - AHA BLS - Required Must-Have: - Graduate from an accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition - English proficiency: Read, Write, Speak Job Description: - Screen and assess patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care. - Determine patients' nutritional needs and status and provide follow-up care. - Interview patients and/or their families to obtain a history of food habits and preferences. - Monitor patients for food/drug interactions and provide education. - Record food and drug interactions in the education section. - Interpret pertinent laboratory, physical, and social data in the medical record as it applies to nutrition care. - Provide nutrition education and record patient's diet, diet instructions, and the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section. - Consult with physicians regarding appropriate diet modifications. - Modify patient menus as needed. - Comply with Medicare and Medicaid Programs requirements for long-term care facilities. Note: For dietitians assigned to post-acute care (long-term care) facilities, New York State Certification is required at the time of hire. A master's degree is preferred.
