One year of this experience must have been providing direct services to individuals diagnosed with mental illness, developmental disabilities, addiction, or substance use disorders in a community setting.A bachelor's degree in nursing can substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing can substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following position will function as a nurse educator for the DDSO, providing a broad spectrum of medical and nursing related educational services and resources to the DDSO teams, individuals, direct care staff, and licensed medical professionals. The focus of the position is to improve accessibility of quality training to internal stakeholders within Sunmount, with the goal of improving the health and wellness of individuals residing under the auspices of the DDSO. This is a hybrid position and will be responsible for providing services to Sunmount's campus and community programs. The position will be based out of the Franklin County Offices.Primary duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:• Assist/provide backup for NEO curriculum trainings, including AMAP, Infection Control/BBP, Maintaining Health, and CPR/AED/First Aid (must either be certified or become certified to teach CPR/AED/First Aid) in the TD&T RNs absence. • Assist/provide backup for OPWDD RN Orientation course and other nursing trainings mandated by Central Office in the TD&T RNs absence.• Assist with providing post NEO training to direct care on tasks related to AMAP and medication administration (ex: vital signs, additional training for emergency use medications i.e. Valtoco/Nayzilam, medication administration via EMAR).• Develop and/or identify resources (ex: meta-analysis studies, medical grand rounds) that could be used to help ensure nurses knowledge of various nursing skills and procedures remains current and is based off best practice as supported by EBP. • Develop a video library and guidance documents (ex: QRGs) for training on various EHR forms and interfaces.• Develop training modules and video library for nursing and medical related policies and procedures.• Review nursing and medical related policies and procedures with new hire nurses, ensuring all applicable policies and procedures are reviewed before completion of the nurse's orientation.• Provide in-person training as needed for nurses who may require additional training to complete specific tasks (ex: entering orders in EHR).• Meet with nurses who are orienting at least once per week to assess orientee progress.• Develops training videos, PowerPoints, training modules, and other resources to be utilized in conjunction with RN orientation competency checklist to help standardize and improve RN orientation.• Assist with onboarding new nurses, ensuring nurses are trained on all competencies outlined on competency checklist before coming off orientation. Will ensure nurses are trained on any competencies and skills outlined on the competency checklist that the orientee may have not been trained on/experienced during on-the-job training.• Will assist with revising and updating the RN orientation competency checklist as needed.• Assist with new interviews for RN candidates as needed.• Attend routine nursing/medical meetings, including morning medical meetings, monthly nurse management meetings, monthly statewide nurse management meetings, etc. Attends other meetings as needed (ex: team meetings).• Will organize and standardize the electronic nursing resources, including training modules, guidance documents (ex: annual AMAP packet, annual RN triage), internal procedures, etc., in the nursing folders in the G-drive.• Assist treatment teams with developing medication goals and goals related to medical diagnoses/concerns.• Assist teams and medical with providing education to individuals on medically related topics (ex: importance of CPAP compliance for OSA, importance of adhering to topical skin treatments).• Assist with providing medical/nursing related trainings to direct care and other team members related to POCAs, LIR recommendations, OPWDD guidance, etc.• Orienting and training nurses on the medical emergency bag, medical emergency equipment, documents (ex: flow sheet), etc., during orientation, annually, and more frequently as needed.• Conduct medical simulations.• Assist with development of policies and procedures and guidance documents affecting nursing and medical processes and practices.• Assist in conducting simulated medical emergencies and medical emergency drills on a regular basis as defined by state and federal regulations.• Assist with NEO physicals, employee vaccinations, including vaccination clinics, TSTs, etc., as needed.• Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of NursingAdditional Comments #LI-NB1#LI-AK1LinkedIn: is committed to creating and sustaining a culture of inclusion.
