Job DescriptionMinimum QualificationsPossession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State, and three years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience. One year of this experience must have been primarily working in the development, implementation, or administration of an infection control program.Substitutions:
- A bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of the post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
- A master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.
- Possession of a current certified in Infection Control (CIC) certificate issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology may substitute for the one ear of infection control program experience.
Duties DescriptionAs a Registered Nurse 3 (Infection Control), you would coordinate and administer an infection control and prevention program for a facility or a group of facilities within an assigned region; perform a wide variety of clinical, consultative, surveillance, education, training, and monitoring activities related to overall infection control and prevention among individuals, employees, and visitors, including proper techniques, practices, and handling of issues; consult with, report, and provide information required by local, State, and federal regulatory agencies; and may supervise staff involved in infection control activities.Notes:
- If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position.
- In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment.
- If appointed you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.
