Total Compensation Estimator Tool**OPEN COMPETITIVE** Specific Responsibilities:This is a professional nurse position working 32.5 hours per week providing school health services. This position will assist with the planning, organizing, implementing and coordination of school health services in all school sites. This person shall serve as a team leader and manage problems that may arise at assigned school sites. Works under the general supervision of the Nursing Program Specialist/Coordinator (NPSC), Executive Community Health Nursing Director (ECHND), and CHD Administrator.Conducts a school health program in a geographically assigned area removed from direct supervision.Performs nursing assessments/health appraisals to identify existing and/or potential health problems. Identify communicable disease and report to appropriate agencies. Provides referral with follow-up for any health problems identified through nursing assessments, health appraisals/screenings, including home visits when appropriate.Provides complex medical procedures and/or training for special needs children/caregivers such as catheterization, tube feedings, etc. Also assists with bowel and bladder training as needed. Creates and initiates care plans on students with special needs and with disease processes such as diabetes, ADHD, etc. Supervises screening programs to include but not limited to vision, hearing, dental, nutrition, communicable disease, growth and development, and hypertension.Responsible for training volunteers and Health Support Aides and Technicians in correct usage of Audio/Visual equipment, screening techniques, medication training and updates and other training deemed necessary by the NPSC.Responsible for providing counseling and coordinating health education information, programs/in-services for students, school personnel, parents, and community.Responsible for monitoring and maintaining updated pertinent health data on student health records, review health records for identification of health problems which may be preventable, communicable, treatable, or may interfere with growth and development or educational achievement.Monitor immunization status of students as required by Florida Law.Maintain the school clinic in a professional manner and keep inventory of nursing supplies and equipment.Assists Healthy Start Coordinator & T.A.P. Coordinator in identifying pregnant teens and referring them to appropriate services.Responsible for planning and implementation of Health Fair(s) at middle school(s) as requested by NPSC.Serves as backup Information Custodian for School Health assigned responsibility for maintaining information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, and DOH policies.Participates in staff meetings, staff development, and continuing education programs. Will participate in school Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting as requested by school district staff and/or NPSC. Will participate in Safety Committee meetings at schools assigned.Other duties as requested by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: - Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
