Job Summary and QualificationsResponsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for the department-specific patient population in accordance with the standards of nursing care and practice as defined by Wesley Medical Center and the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient's age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
The High Risk Obstetrics unit provides care to Antepartum, Gynecology, and women's Oncology patients as well as providing post-partum care for NICU mothers. The variety of extended stay and daily patients, give their staff the relationship building with their patients but also the fast-paced environment of daily surgeries and procedures. Their goal is to provide the best outcome to mom's who have pre-existing health conditions or those who have complications that arise during pregnancy and need specialized care. In order to provide specialized care, the unit dedicates training to new RNs and experienced RNs who have never worked in Women's health. The unit supports their new staff through in-depth orientation, experienced preceptors, and team relationships built on the unit. This unit provides a great opportunity to experience multiple types of Women's health patients and provide a great foundation if you are looking to further specialize.
