Why does the job exist?Registered Nurse III/RN Surveyor will:
- Perform initial, recertification surveys and complaint investigations of health facilities establishing, monitoring and enforcing quality standards to assure the safety and wellbeing of residents/patients/clients, and to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
How does it get done?Registered Nurse III/ RN Surveyor is responsible for:
- Determining whether healthcare is delivered appropriately and meets state and federal compliance standards;
- Determining if patients' needs are met after observation of treatments (e.g. intravenous therapy, tube feedings, wound dressing changes) and observation of the care provided by a variety of treatment settings;
- Determining the adequacy of staffing and to assess the delivery of care based on observations of nursing care in progress;
- Performing lead surveyor duties and training;
- Supporting the ACC Program Manager and ACC supervisors.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate has RN experience working in the following:
- Acute Care;
- Critical Access Hospitals;
- Home Health;
- Hospice;
- Ambulatory Surgical Centers;
- Dialysis Facilities;
- Rural Health Clinics.
Minimum QualificationMust possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office and in acute and continuing care facilities with extensive computer and some phone usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. Very Extensive in-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Occasional out-of state travel with the occasional overnight stay is required.
