Position: Registered Nurse/ Infection Prevention, Infection Control Department
What You'll Do: As a Registered Nurse/ Infection Prevention, Infection Control, you'll play a vital role in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities include:
* Participates in developing and implementing infection prevention programs.
* Educates healthcare providers and staff.
* Consults with leadership and hospital staff on infection prevention issues.
* Implements evidence-based infection prevention practices.
* Supports infection prevention improvement projects hospital wide.
* Collaborates with physicians, department directors, and staff.
* Collects, analyzes, and reports data on healthcare-associated infections, performance improvement, and patient safety.
* Ensures regulatory reporting compliance.
* Maintains a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience: 5 years of clinical experience in an acute-care setting as a Registered Nurse. Preferably with infection prevention project involvement.
* Required Skills:
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications to perform data analysis and deliver presentations.
* Proficiency using Windows and Google applications, to perform analysis.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to educate and train staff on infection prevention practices.
* Education: ADN degree required; BSN degree preferred.
* Licensure/Certifications: Current California RN license
* Preferred certification: CIC Certification by CBIC.
* For nurses without IP experience: Completion of EPI Education Series (EPI 101 and 102) within first two years.
* Completion of annual requirement of at least 5 Infection Prevention Units (IPU).
* LA City Fire Card certification within first 30 days of employment.

Specific Responsibilities:
* Assist in developing, revising, and implementing infection prevention policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards.
* Conduct regular infection risk assessments and implement preventive strategies.
* Monitor compliance with infection prevention standards from various regulatory bodies.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrators to ensure adherence to guidelines.
* Review microbiology reports and reportable diseases in accordance with regulations.
* Liaise with public health departments for timely reporting of reportable diseases.
* Identify and investigate healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) using NHSN criteria.
* Stay updated on emerging infectious diseases and develop mitigation strategies.
* Serve as infection prevention resource for multiple hospital departments.
* Develop and deliver effective educational programs for staff.
* Coach clinical staff on disease prevention and promote positive outcomes.
* Conduct environmental surveillance to ensure compliance with infection control policies.
* Maintain accurate records of infection prevention activities.
* Foster a positive workplace environment within the infection prevention department.
* Participate in infection prevention committees and process improvement activities.
* Collaborate with Occupational Health to prevent and manage exposure incidents.
* Coordinate follow-up for patients and healthcare workers after exposures.
* Maintain professional growth through continuing education and skills competency.
* Model infection prevention standards and patient advocacy behaviors.
* Perform other assigned duties as needed.
