Gross Weekly Pay: $2,576

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit provides comprehensive care to patients, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and utilizing telemetry equipment to observe cardiac rhythms. This role involves close collaboration with the healthcare team, patient education, and maintaining accurate medical records. The nurse ensures a safe environment while responding effectively to emergencies and supporting patients through recovery and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Provide comprehensive care to patients in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs.

Monitor Vital Signs:

Regularly monitor and record patient vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and promptly report any abnormalities.

Administer Medication:

Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosages and monitoring for potential side effects.

Patient Education:

Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.

Collaborate with the Healthcare Team:

Work closely with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

Utilize Telemetry Equipment:

Monitor cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment, identify arrhythmias, and respond appropriately to any changes in patient condition.

Maintain Patient Records:

Accurately document patient information, care provided, and any changes in condition in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Provide Postoperative Care:

Assist in the recovery of patients post-surgery, managing pain, monitoring for complications, and supporting rehabilitation efforts.

Emergency Response:

Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including initiating life-saving measures such as CPR and defibrillation if necessary.

Maintain a Safe Environment:

Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients by adhering to infection control policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.

Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical/surgical setting is preferred.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
