Black Owl Recruiting is sourcing for a Registered Nurse for a reputable client in Forest Hills, NY. The Wound Care Certified Registered Nurse (WCCRN) is responsible for providing specialized wound care to patients with various types of wounds, including chronic, acute, and complex wounds. The nurse works collaboratively with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate wound care treatments. This role involves direct patient care, wound assessment, dressing changes, patient education, and documentation of wound care interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
Wound Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough assessments of wounds, including size, depth, stage, and condition.
- Assess the patient's overall health status, comorbid conditions, and risk factors for wound complications.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of previous wound care interventions.
Care Planning:
- Develop individualized wound care plans based on the assessment and patient needs.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal healing outcomes.
- Set short- and long-term goals for wound healing.
Wound Treatment:
- Perform dressing changes and select appropriate dressings based on wound type and condition.
- Administer topical medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Provide specialized care for various types of wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, and burns.
Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and families on proper wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and lifestyle changes that support wound healing.
- Teach patients about nutrition, mobility, and other factors affecting wound healing.
- Provide guidance on infection control and signs of complications.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of wound assessments, treatments, and patient progress.
- Document any changes in wound condition, adverse reactions, or complications.
- Ensure compliance with hospital or healthcare facility policies and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Participate in multidisciplinary wound care rounds and case discussions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Infection Prevention and Control:
- Follow infection control protocols to prevent wound infections and complications.
- Educate patients on infection prevention and signs of infection.
Quality Improvement:
- Participate in wound care audits and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest wound care research, practices, and technologies.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
Certification:
- Wound Care Certification (e.g., Wound Care Certified (WCC), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), or Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)).
- Certification must be obtained through a recognized wound care certification body (such as the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) or the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM)).
Experience:
- Russian speaking preferred but not required
- At least 1-2 years of experience in nursing, with a focus on wound care preferred.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting managing patients with complex or chronic wounds.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of wound care practices, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent clinical assessment skills and the ability to create tailored care plans.
- Proficient in using wound care products, tools, and technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- Ability to document care accurately and comprehensively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and move patients as necessary.
- Handling medical equipment and supplies in a safe and effective manner.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Salary:
$125,000 per year
