Position Summary:The Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care and constant monitoring of patients in critical condition. This role includes reviewing electrical heart activity, monitoring vital signs, and caring for patients with conditions such as heart failure, diabetes, and gastrointestinal diseases. The RN will work in a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool, ensuring coverage throughout various units, maintaining a high level of clinical expertise, and ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality patient care to a diverse and complex patient population.
  • Monitor, assess, plan, and evaluate the health needs of patients, responding to a wide range of conditions.
  • Advocate for patients and their families while adhering to nursing regulations and standards of practice.
  • Float between multiple units within the hospital to provide patient care, specifically in Med/Surg Telemetry areas.
  • Perform telemetry monitoring, including interpreting and documenting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
  • Administer cardiac drips and monitor patients on cardiac medications.
  • Provide support in specialized areas such as cardiac monitoring, ICU care for non-vented patients, and medication administration in the mental health unit.
  • Adhere to a culture of safety, shared governance, and nursing autonomy.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • ADN required, BSN preferred.
    • Successfully passed the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination.
    • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years acute care hospital experience required.
    • Strong skills in telemetry monitoring, cardiac drips, and interpreting telemetry strips.
  • Certifications:
    • Active Massachusetts RN License.
    • BLS and ACLS certifications required (American Heart Association).
    • CPR certification required
Certification: Basic Life Support , Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
