Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse is to provide direct nursing care to the residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants as assigned. Supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Community; as well as what may be required by the RCC or Unit Manager to ensure that the highest level of quality care is maintained at all times. Duties and Responsibilities:Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care CommunityEnsure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this CommunityMeet with your assigned nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the shifts' services, programs, and activitiesMake written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of your shift as requiredCooperate with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident's total regimen of care is maintainedEnsure that all nursing service personnel are in compliance with their respective job descriptionsParticipate in Community surveys and inspections made by authorized government agencies as requestedPeriodically review the resident's written discharge plan. Participate in the updating of the resident's written discharge plan as requiredInterpret the department's policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as requiredAdminister professional services such as; catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, giving massages and range of motion exercises, care for the dead/dying, etc., as requiredPerform lab tests, blood pressures, and other routine monitored as required per the resident care planAdmit, transfer, and discharge residents as requiredPerform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessaryEncourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policiesReceive telephone orders from physicians and transcribe on the Physicians' Order FormChart nursing notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident, as well as the resident's response to the careComplete accident/incident reports per Community policy. Submit to RCC or Unit ManagerDevelop and maintain a good working rapport with co-workers and other departments within the CommunityReview complaints and grievances. Report these to the RCC and/or Unit ManagerNurse report must be given and received when coming on and off each shiftJob Requirements:Must have a valid professional license (RN) that is in good standing with the StateMust have basic computer skillsMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessaryMust be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situationsMust be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodationEmployee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
