Join the exceptional Beacon Award Winning Nursing team on MedStarGeorgetown University Hospital's Solid Organ Transplant & HepatologyIntermediate Care Unit (S42) in the recently opened Verstandig Pavilion,situated on Georgetown University's campus. The cutting-edge VerstandigPavilion is equipped with all-private inpatient rooms and state-of-the-artmedical equipment, ensuring an environment that prioritizes excellence inpatient care. The Transplant IMC shares a floor with its own SurgicalTransplant Intensive Care Unit (ICU), promoting seamless patient throughputbetween different acuities.This 28-bed unit has been recognized by the AmericanAssociation of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) with a BEACON Award for Excellencethrough 2026. Clinical Nurses on S42 provide expert care to acutely ill adultsthat are waiting for or have recently received a solid organ transplant (liver,kidney, pancreas, intestine) or have undergone other hepatobiliary surgeries(TACE, liver resection, Whipple). MedStar Georgetown is one of only six centersin the United States that perform intestinal transplants and averages over 100liver transplants per year. At MedStar Georgetown we also perform kidney andpancreas transplants and serve patients regionally, nationally, andinternationally. Additional medical diagnoses include end-stage renal disease,end-stage liver failure, hepatitis, chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis,CHF, and GI bleeds. All beds are equipped to provide continuous cardiac andpulse oximetry bedside monitoring, and nurses are essential in managinghigh-risk medications and performing in-depth discharge teaching. Nurses workwith the interdisciplinary team - including physicians, pharmacists, and nursepractitioners - to deliver intense pre- and post-surgical care that is focusedon infection prevention and patient education. The nursing team is a highlyeducated and motivated group of professionals that participate in collaborativegovernance, achieve certifications, and drive positive patient outcomes. *Various scheduling options available*

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.
  • Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.

This position has a hiring range of $38.00 - $63.30
