A Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional who provides nursing care to patients who have been transferred from a higher level of care, such as an intensive care unit (ICU), to a lower level of care, such as a stepdown unit. The stepdown unit provides patients with a bridge between the ICU and a regular hospital floor.Responsibilities of a Stepdown-RN may include:Monitoring and managing patients who have complex medical conditions and require close monitoring.Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.Assessing patients' conditions and reporting any changes to the physician.Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.Assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures.Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to healthcare regulations and standards.Educating patients and families about their conditions, treatments, and procedures.Assisting with activities of daily living and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.Requirements for the role may include:Active RN license in the state of practice.1-2 years of experience as a nurse in a stepdown or ICU setting.Strong knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.Ability to work with patients of all ages and with varying levels of illness and disability.Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
