Summary

Performs vascular exams using ultrasound and image with latitude utilizing independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Performs vascular exams of designated anatomy to physician specifications and established protocols. Performs high quality non-invasive diagnostic vascular testing. Operates all the equipment pertinent to the procedures. Works in a hospital facility that offers full hospital services. Provides direct patient care to high acuity patients encompassing emergency, inpatient and outpatient classes supporting up to and including trauma and ICU.Job Duties

  • Performs diagnostic vascular ultrasound studies.
  • Conducts noninvasive ultrasound techniques to diagnose potential disorders of blood veins, arteries, or vessels.
  • Reviews test images to check for quality and sufficient coverage.
  • Explains disease patterns and notifies interpreting physician of preliminary findings of test results. Reports any abnormalities to nursing personnel and/or provider.
  • Develops and implements quality assurance programs relating to the calibration and maintenance of the equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to interact and communicate with physicians, patients, and hospital staff.
  • Ability to multitask and work under stress.
  • Demonstrates eye-hand coordination, mechanical, and analytical aptitude.
  • Must be able to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, physicians, and nursing personnel.
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology.
  • RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Upon Hire or
  • VS - Vascular Sonography ARRT - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of approved CAHEA or CAAHEP school of vascular sonography or certification program. In good standing with accrediting body (ARDMS, ARRT).
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
