The Registration Clerk is responsible for coordinating the insurance clearance process by completing financial clearance of patients. This position is an extension of Patient Financial Services. Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Ability to maintain accuracy while working on multiple tasks; often changing assignments with short notice.
- Ability to work alone with minimum supervision.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
- Working knowledge of medical computer systems, and EMR preferred.
- Minimum of two years experience in hospital/healthcare industry preferred.
- Keyboarding/typing speed of a minimum of 45 wpm.
- Comprehensive insurance and medical terminology.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical insurance plans.
Education level:
- Associates or additional college preferred. Work experience could be equivalent to college.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working conditions: This is a sedentary job requiring sitting for extended periods of time. Overtime, extended work hours, or flex time due to census may be required.
