ReporterDepartment: Editorial & Content Employment Type: Full Time Location: New York Reporting To: Ben Jung Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 / year DescriptionLexology PRO is seeking an enthusiastic and insightful Reporter to join our editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join a dynamic, global content team! In this role, you will create engaging daily news content on US labour and employment issues tailored to an audience of legal and compliance professionals located primarily in the US. You will also produce features, interviews, and other content as assigned. This is an entry-level role reporting to our US Editor, who is based in our Washington, DC office. You have the option to be remote or hybrid in one of our offices in Washington, DC or New York, NY. In the Reporter role, you would:
  • Write content that's timely, accurate, balanced, appropriate for the audience, and in line with LBR's editorial ethos.
  • Monitor US labour and employment law developments at the federal and state level to facilitate the publication of content.
  • Agree to and meet internal deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain a network of private practice and in-house sources.
  • Pitch ideas for engaging news content.
  • Report on events and conferences.
  • Represent the company at events and conferences for the purpose of building contacts, sourcing information, and generating goodwill.
  • Generate ideas for, draft, and contribute to the publication of long-form content like features and special reports.
  • Work collaboratively within the editorial team and with departments across the business.
  • Support routine publication-related processes.
  • Assist with other tasks within the Reporter's remit, as assigned.
You would be a good fit for this role if you have:
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to write accurate, insightful content, to deadline.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially with source development and interviewing.
  • Proactive in troubleshooting and solving problems.
You'd be an even better fit if you also have (but it's not required):
  • Knowledge of labour and employment law.
  • Familiarity with US legal systems.
  • Proficiency in using content management systems.
  • Understanding of SEO principles.
