JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Lead commercial deal evaluation and financial modelling and stress-testing for new business opportunities, with a statistically disciplined approach.

Provide, for Hanwha Shipping and Hanwha Ocean, research related to the impact-effect of macro and within industry market trends upon the commercial portfolio. A deep understanding on, fundamental research of each market segment as well as understanding how to apply appropriate KPI's with respect to competitor analysis.

Close collaboration with the commercial technology teams at both Hanwha Shipping and Hanwha Ocean and the regulatory team at Hanwha Shipping on the future of the market based on research-based insights.

Manage the transaction scope, risk, and operational concerns of Environmental attributes / Emissions credits for Hanwha Shipping and inform a varied group of stakeholders of market opportunities and threats.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead transaction specific deal evaluation, data sourcing/transformation and analysis/conveyance for Hanwha Shipping
  • Build, review and update research, economic, environmental, and financial models for a varied group of energy and financial markets.
  • Preparation of marketing materials, documentation, and transaction specific presentations
  • Maintain responsibility for the commercial vessel fundamentals, trends, and supply/demand analysis for both Hanwha Shipping and Hanwha Ocean in order to drive successful ship building and ship owning strategies which are robust to market dynamics across energy transition, financial, foreign exchange, real assets, bond, and other markets on an ah doc basis.
  • Collaborate with other teams internally at Hanwha to strengthen insights to and build consensus to inform strategic go-to-market approach (alongside Hanwha Ocean):

- Enable delivery of insight and ultimately drive Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Shipping strategies.

- Collaborate with the internal teams on the early identification for new developments in shipping a working with our key industry partners on near- and long-term strategic pathways.

- Interface with Hanwha Ocean on and the techno-economic feasibility for vessel design for both Hanwha Shipping ownership fleet and new designs to be constructed at Hanwha Ocean for external customers.

  • Build, review, and update emissions models across multi-jurisdictional compliance seeking a robust manner of evaluating corporate exposure and asset level risks.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in the shipping and energy industry holding senior roles and key relationships with ship operators, charterers, owners, and vendors.
  • Experience with exchange related Cleared/swaps/OTC markets as they are applicable to environmental attributes, credits, or other pseudonyms for carbon allowances.
  • Experience of evaluating vessels from a transactional scope and a deep understanding of vessel economics, both charter and long-term lease, including how to internalize otherwise externality risk and understanding evolving technology choices and the costs elasticities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant Classification Society Rules and Marine Engineering practices
  • Advanced degrees in Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, MBA, or other quantitative skill. Experience can be seen as a substitute.

Keen interest in energy transition and pathways to decarbonise the maritime sector,

  • Strong awareness of emissions regulations and reporting requirements across differentiable regional environments, and interactive nature.

Work Authorization:
