We work with federal, state, and local agencies, with a primary concentration on addressing criminal and juvenile justice practices and issues, especially as they impact high-risk populations. Over the past four decades we have supported the Departments of Justice, Health and Human Services, Education, and State. We have provided technical support to many federal and state level agencies. DSG is a top research firm, whose practice areas organize the firm's diverse content knowledge and expertise. These domains are the major fields in which we apply our technical expertise to help to improve outcomes for our clients and those they serve. Since our founding in 1977, we have been leading the way in finding, assessing, and applying what works in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and victim services. DSG manages CrimeSolutions, an evidence assessment of justice programs and practices for the Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice. Along with our nationwide team of scholars, DSG reviews and assesses the evidence base of numerous interventions in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and crime victimization for inclusion in this nationally recognized repository. In addition, DSG operates the Model Programs Guide (MPG), a comprehensive, searchable, user-friendly website on the full range of evidence-based programs that address at-risk youth.

We are currently seeking talented Research Assistants to join our CrimeSolutions team.

Key Responsibilities:

DSG is seeking a Criminal Justice Master's degree-level Research Assistant to expand its Research and Evaluation Division. Duties include

  • conducting internet searches
  • screening, reading, and coding journal articles
  • maintaining excel spreadsheets
  • conducting data entry
  • reviewing and analyzing statistical analyses
  • preparing literature reviews, and
  • preparing well-written research summaries.

Knowledge and understanding of basic research methods and statistics is required.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or related field and 1 year of experience, or a bachelor's degree plus 2 to 3 years' of relevant experience.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong written/oral communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate journal articles and evaluations to extract and code relevant information.
  • Strong background in producing high-quality literature reviews and article summaries.
  • Experience in using Excel.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust security clearance upon hiring.

Excellent salary and benefits. Hybrid position requires 2-3 days a week in the Bethesda, Maryland office.
