Research Associate / QC Chemist
W2 Contract-to-Hire
Salary Range: $74,900 - $85,300 per year
Location: San Carlos, CA - Onsite Role
Job Summary:
As a QC Chemist, you will perform analytical testing of GMP drug intermediates and maintenance of the analytical equipment. You will also assist in developing new test methods and refining existing analytical methods. We are looking for a committed, detail-oriented individual who can carry out routine tests in compliance with GMP/GLP practices and contribute to assay development to support QC and R&D efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently prepare solutions and samples for HPLC assays and operate HPLC and LCMS.
- Prepare solutions used in testing and sample preparations for other analytical assays.
- Analyze results, including basic statistical metrics such as means and standard deviations.
- Operate standard lab equipment, including analytical scales, pH meters, densitometers, and spectrophotometers.
- Perform analytical testing with DSC, Karl Fischer, and rheometer; training will be provided if necessary.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Accurately file forms and logbooks, recording experimental details electronically and in an assigned lab notebook.
- Assist in analytical method development, optimization, and validation.
- Assist in writing test methods for lab instruments, work instructions, and reports.
- Maintain and troubleshoot HPLC assays.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshoot basic lab equipment.
- Maintain analytical equipment and keep a clean lab environment.
- Clean glassware for HPLC and general chemical lab usage.
- Manage hazardous waste and satellite collection points.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- At least 4-5 years of GMP industry experience is required, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- HPLC experience is required
- Experience with Waters Empower HPLC Software
- LCMS experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and solid computer literacy
- Experienced with various lab equipment, including HPLC pH Meter, LC-MS Osmometer Spectrophotometer, Karl Fischer Difference Scanning, and Calorimeter Densitometer Rheometer
- Able to troubleshoot problems associated with assays and lab equipment.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and has strong time management skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
