Description We are currently looking to add a Research & Development Intern to our team in St. Cloud, MN. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in performing research projects, development of new products and processes, and validations. The intern will gain practical laboratory experience in microorganism culture, enumeration via PCR, lyophilization, and use of laboratory equipment and technology. What can I expect in this role? The internship is from May-August. The intern will work Monday-Friday normal business hours. Some key duties in this role include:
  • The R&D Intern will primarily be responsible for development, testing, and data analysis of processes related to the development of lyophilized and liquid microorganism products. These may include, but are not limited to:
  • Culturing and counting techniques of microorganisms.
  • Production and lyophilization of microorganism products.
  • Performing nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Good documentation practices and data presentation.
  • Attend Granite Partners Internship Bridge meetings.
  • Create and present capstone project.
  • Attend internal Internship program meetings.
  • Perform other duties within the R&D department or other areas as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Observe all company policies, rules, and safety practices.

  • Must be a student at a Minnesota College or University with a minimum of 60 credit hours.
  • Majoring in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, Microbiology, or related field
  • in an accredited U.S. College.
  • Practical laboratory experience with knowledge of aseptic technique.
  • Familiarity with Molecular Biology techniques and PCR.
  • Willingness to work with pathogenic microorganisms.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Minitab preferred.
  • Experience in research and knowledge of basic statistics preferred.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • In good academic standing (2.50+ GPA).
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test
