We are recruiting a Research leader, speciailized in Generative AI, to work for a Series A AI R&D Lab based out of San Francisco, Boston and New York. They're building SOTA foundation models that will apply to multiple domains, including clean technology, renewables, the life sciences, physics and much more. They are backed to the tune of over $350,000,000 and are led by a truly world-leading team of scientists and engineers. Whilst the company only launched 8 months ago, the team has been working together for much longer, and already have put together the foundations for a highly successful venture.
The role itself will focus on recruiting, building and leading a team of elite research scientists. You'll have to put in a lot of the groundwork; configuring/building the first models, setting the scientific direction and acting as the first boots on the ground. That all being said, you'll have scope to hire a team of researchers and oversee their work. You will be designing, training and building foundation models, applying generative AI in novel ways. Being able to translate this into papers to present back to the community is highly important, as is being on top of what is considered SOTA. You will have a background of publishing in top tier journals/conferences (think ICLR, ICML, NeurIPS etc), with a high level of impact. Ideally, you will have worked at a top AI Lab, collaborating with other scientists to build SOTA generative AI models. From an academics point of view, a strong CS background with ideally a PhD in machine learning is preferable.
This role can be based out of Boston, SF and New York. It's a hybrid role, with you expected to be in the office 2/3 times per week.
