This role will primarily involve laboratory experiments such as the preparation of clinical and biological samples for multi-omic mass spectrometry analysis and the set-up, use and maintenance of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry instrumentation, followed by the generation and interpretation of QC results. The successful candidate will be responsible for acting with a degree of autonomy and performing more complex and specialized work across proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomic workflows. They will also share responsibility for maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment by keeping abreast of current standard operating procedures related to Sapient's methods, techniques, and developments while supporting client projects through the summarization, analysis, and organization of project data,Responsibilities:
- Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment (primarily Bruker TIMSTOF Pro 2 instruments).
- Performs a variety of assays across proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomic workflows.
- Maintains clear and organized electronic lab notebook (ELN), documenting protocols and results of all experiments performed.
- Supports the organization, tracking, and storing of specimens.
- Prepares stock chemical solutions, buffers and other reagents as necessary.
- Maintains safe and efficient procedures in the laboratory when working with hazardous materials.
- Performs calculations to complete research test results; collates data; performs basic procedures for computer assisted data analysis; and maintains notes and logs or computer databases.
- Supports inventory management protocols.
- Maintains clear, timely, and respectful communication with fellow lab members and project stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related Life Science field and 3 + years of related work experience.
- Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related Life Science field and 1-2 + years of related work experience.
- Experience with mass spectrometry techniques (preferably untargeted LC-MS, however targeted LC-MS is also favorable) and working in a BSL2/BSL2+ environment.
- Experience with proteomics, metabolomic and lipidomic workflows including sample preparation, LC-MS data collection, and data processing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with ability to work independently and creatively.
- Someone who embraces scientific challenges and enjoys working on a variety of different analytical pipelines.
- Experience with custom data workflows and data analysis required.
