Job Title: Research Scientist III Grade: 25 Salary: $92,055 - $111,115 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time position of Research Scientist III in the NYS Center of Excellence for Cultural Competence (CECC). The candidate will be responsible for conducting research using mixed methods, quantitative, and qualitative approaches across several studies and evaluation projects under the supervision and mentoring of experienced research staff and faculty. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use quantitative and qualitative methods to examine the development, adaptation, implementation, and effectiveness of interventions addressing suicidality, mental health equity, social determinants of mental health, sociocultural clinical assessment, treatment engagement, and mental health promotion.
- Assist with developing and implementing cross-sectional and longitudinal study designs and analytic plans across a range of research and evaluation projects.
- Prepare and assist with IRB protocol development and reporting as well as documentation of quality control practices and project compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Collaborate on the development of project protocols, semi-structured interview guides, surveys, databases, codebooks, study instruments, and other materials.
- Participate in collection, analysis, reporting, and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data including conducting both structured surveys, semi-structured interviews, and focus groups.
- Assist with developing and managing project databases (e.g., REDCap), perform data entry, and ensure adherence to protocols.
- Assist with tracking and management of project activities and timelines.
- Provide training and supervision to research assistants in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods.
- Engage and collaborate with cross-disciplinary researchers, community partners, and other stakeholders.
- Develop grant proposals for foundation, state, and/or federal funding agencies.
- Prepare project reports, summaries, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and four years of professional research experience in public health, sociomedical sciences, sociology, social work, psychology, psychiatry, or another appropriate field. A master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, or Ph.D. in an appropriate field or MD may substitute for an additional year of experience.
- At least 3 years combined experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- At least 2 years of experience in researching and evaluating mental / behavioral health or social interventions for populations of diverse backgrounds.
- At least 2 years of experience using quantitative analysis software (e.g., STATA, SAS, Mplus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting research on community-based interventions preferred.
- Experience in suicide prevention and intervention preferred.
- Experience in longitudinal research designs and analytical methods preferred.
- Experience using qualitative analysis software (e.g., Atlas.ti, NVivo, Dedoose) preferred.
- License in clinical psychology, social work, or mental health counseling a plus.
- English and Spanish fluency preferred.
