Research Technician 2 to assist and support scientific investigation to study human cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center/Pathology (Cell Reprogramming Laboratory, PI: Dr. Xuefeng Liu)Duties Include:
- Independently conducts assigned experiments
- Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures includingPCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
- Tests and evaluates current procedures
- Performs routine procedures on lab animals
- Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
- Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
- Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
- Prepares research progress reports
- Assists principal investigator with the preparation ofpublications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
- Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
- Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requestsas needed.Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Requires successful completion of a background check.
