This role involves leading a team of staff and volunteers to ensure the effective management and enhancement of the reserve.This role requires a combination of technical and practical land management skills and knowledge of the ecological requirements of the habitats and species found within our reserve. Day to day, the role combines land management, fieldwork, team leadership, and public engagement, providing a dynamic and fulfilling work environment.By effectively managing the Slimbridge reserve, our Reserve Manager plays a vital role in restoring and maintaining our wetland habitat, which is crucial for biodiversity, climate regulation, and water management. You will actively promote WWT's mission to restore wetlands, educating the public about their importance, ultimately helping to unlock the power of wetlands for future generations.About YouTo join as our Reserve Manager, you'll bring:
- A professional qualification in conservation or countryside management; ideally, a degree, diploma or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Extensive experience in practically managing large areas of land for conservation, including developing and implementing management plans and monitoring programmes.
- Great field, technical, and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent leadership skills to manage and support your team of colleagues and volunteers.
