The main responsibilities for the RLCs are to develop and supervise the residential living environment for approximately 288 high school juniors and seniors. This includes designing and implementing programs focused on the whole student, providing appropriate counsel to residents, and interpreting and enforcing community standards as outlined in the GSSM Student Handbook. Night and weekend work are required, as is a valid driver's license.This is a 10-month, live-in position with potential opportunities for employment during the summer months.Job Functions include the following:Direct, guide, and supervise students in all non-academic areas.Counsel students regarding residential matters on an individual and group basis.Supervise two resident assistants directly and 6-10 others indirectly.Support community building, personal growth, and development for all residents.Manage crises, conflicts, and emergencies.Conduct regular inspections of the residence hall to support health and safety of residents and overall building safety.Report residence hall maintenance issues in a consistent and timely manner.Maintain regular office hours and on-call duties.Participate in all training activities before the opening of school in August and throughout the year.Communicate with parents and guardians as needed.Report and address violations of the GSSM Discipline and Honor as outlined in the Student Handbook and maintain records.Complete other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and/or the Vice President for Student Development.The Residence Life Coordinator is a full-time live in 10-month state of South Carolina position with full benefits, including an apartment with amenities. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and unique qualifications.Minimum RequirementsMinimum Requirements:At minimum, applicants must have a bachelor's degree in a human service-related field and comparable experience.
