Description
SUMMARY: In support of the university's mission and enrollment objectives, this position provides strategic and operational oversight of the student housing placement process, ensuring that student housing occupancy is appropriately assigned and maximized on campus and appropriate charges are applied to the student accounts. The Coordinator oversees meal plan assignments, building maintenance issues, provides customer service to students, parents and university guests, and provides training to Residence Life staff in housing functions.
Administration of Housing Selection Process
* Manages and assists with bed space occupancy for the entire campus, and residence hall assignments for new and current students. Partners with Undergraduate Admissions to facilitate the new student housing request process and housing placement of new students. Provides information to students and parents about the housing application process and eligibility.
* Coordinates housing transition between semesters and communicates with relevant constituents (Facilities Maintenance (SSC), Procurement, Operations, Students, Staff/Faculty).
* Works alongside Area Coordinators in regards to early arrival/late stay process for all residential students, including athletes and international students.
* Manages operation of student housing software (THD/StarRez) and knowledge of other university software (Jenzabar, Navigate360, etc.) while overseeing the residence life housing components of the university database and websites (pba.edu and mypba, campus labs).
* Oversees and manages the daily on-going operations (inspection, reporting, and communication) of the residential facilities in collaboration with facilities maintenance (SSC).
* Monitors progress of maintenance projects/remediations with the residence halls.
* Communicates displacement arrangements and serves as a point of contact for students and their families during times of displacement.
* Monitors and resolves issues that pertain to the housing process including the application, status, assignment, pending assignment, and moving in/out.
* Informs supervisor(s) of daily activities, problems, emergencies, and occurrences related to student housing, meal plans, or building maintenance.
* Assists with resolving various problems related to housing assignments and student accounts as directed by supervisors.
* Communicates emergency housing plans to residents, per the Emergency Management Team.
* Conducts assessments and makes recommendations for the improvement of the student housing process.
* Prepares qualitative and quantitative reports, as requested.
* Assists with tracking and maintaining applications, changes, and cancellations, utilizing data to analyze housing trends.
* Assists with developing and updating policies and procedures regarding on-campus housing information.
* Adheres to compliance with federal and local regulations, including FERPA.
Training and Education of Professional Staff and Student Leaders
* Trains and educations the Residence Life professional staff and student leader team on housing software.
* Provides education to faculty/staff on housing selection process.
* Assists with RC and RA staff development programs related to housing, including Fall Training, Spring Training, Monthly In-Service Workshops, and Spring Class, as requested by the Director of Residence Life.
Auxiliary Housing
* Works as a liaison between university and apartment complex administration.
* Advocates for students' needs at auxiliary properties.
* Hosts off-campus housing fair upon request. Maintains relationships with off-campus housing options.
* Oversees off-campus housing resources: Off Campus Marketplace and Off Campus Housing Guidebook.
* Onboards new properties in housing software and collaborates with facilities and other offices (IT, Operations, Procurement, Public Safety) to get new properties online in a timely fashion.
Student Life
* Oversees Sailfish Survival Kit program.
* Attends and participates in Student Life Division and university-wide meetings, retreats and committees.
* Provides support for SOAR including Check-in, Welcome Week and Check-out for new and transfer students each semester.
* Represents the University in a positive manner to parents, students, visitors, and the neighboring community through Christian conduct, behavior, and presentation on and off campus.
* Demonstrates a vitality of Christian faith through student discipleship, friendship evangelism, Bible study, social ministry opportunities, and church related service.
* Develops professionally and remains current with Student Life issues and trends that affect university students, particularly as they relate to the student residential experience and housing best practices.
Qualifications
* Baccalaureate required from an accredited higher education institution.
* 2-5 years of experience with college students
* Ability to perform complex duties with excellent written and superior oral communication skills.
* Must be able to develop and maintain data by use of various software (Excel, Microsoft Office, web design), along with the ability to multi-task.
* Expected to perform duties and responsibilities independently.
* Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and align across a wide variety of people.
* Possess public speaking ability to communicate to a large group setting with faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.
* Possess a high level of reasoning ability, such as problem solving, interpreting instructions and data, and dealing with unknown variables within a Biblical worldview.
* Manifests sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities; ability to work strategically by prioritizing competing demands.

* Physical ability is critical to respond to emergencies anywhere on campus. Some residence halls contain multiple stories and do not have access by elevator.
* Must be able to work non-routine hours occasionally to support department operations.
