Dynamic Opportunity~ As a full time 40 hour per week employee, a Residence Specialist II provides assessment, planning, linking, monitoring and advocacy for clients assigned to supervised residences, referred from State psychiatric hospitals.

The Guidance Center~ is a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care for individuals and families with mental health needs in the greater Cumberland County, NJ area. For more than 60 years, our non-profit organization of professionals, doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, has assisted the community in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of mental illness.

What does this position look like~ A Residence Specialist II is responsible for participation in the development of individual comprehensive service plans. Participation in individual service coordination activities. Communicating observations and information about the clients to the program coordinator, RN and treatment team. Documenting observations, information and services provided to the client in progress notes. On-site services and support supervising, organizing and supporting recreational and/or socialization activities. Assists in development of social, daily living survival skills. Assists in providing transportation. Promotes usage of community services. Participates in team meetings, including treatment planning.

What you need to apply~

Education and/or experience equal to one of the following:

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health related field, or
  • A licensed registered nurse, or
  • A combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience together equaling four years, or
  • A licensed practical nurse plus two years or related work or life experience, or
  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies
  • High School diploma four years related mental health experience.
  • Valid automobile driver's license with MVR which meets agency standards.
