Our Mission: Enable individual persons who have serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorder and/or a dual diagnosis of SMI and IDD to live a life that is meaningful to her or him in the community on terms she/he defines.Title: Residential Advisor Supervisor: Program DirectorBrief Description of Program:PCS Mental Health, LLC will operate a Residential Treatment Facility for Adults (RTF-A) serving members from Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Luzerne, Wyoming, Carbon, Monroe and Pike Counties. In this locked, sixteen bed homelike setting, Members will continue in their recovery journey and will develop and improve the skills needed to disrupt the cycle of institutional living. The RTF-A will be staffed 24x7 to provide members the support, education and knowledge to live within the greater community. Each member will identify his/her own Blue-Sky, life-worth-living goal(s) and use these as inspiration in developing their unique Recovery/Service Plan. Summary of Job Duties:This position will support the member and the team by understanding the goals on the Recovery/Service Plan and implementing strategies necessary to attain those goals. This position will be front line, direct care support for the members and will work to ensure their safety. This position will also help support Members as they attain skills with ADLs and IADLs. This team member will participate in crisis management techniques and utilize de-escalation skills to help ensure a therapeutic milieu. Specific Responsibilities:
- Implement and document member interventions and progress relative to member's recovery plan
- Provide supervision for assigned member activities and trips
- Participate and facilitate psycho education and skills groups as assigned
- Provide individual and group support for assigned members in such things as:
- Daily oversight and coaching of daily living activities
- socialization/communication skills, conflict resolution, de-escalation skills, and crisis supports
- Meal planning, menu development, food shopping, meal preparation, and storage
- Self-Management of medications and collaboration with the psychiatrist and other medical providers
- Health and home safety best practices
- Use of transportation resources as appropriate
- Use of Recovery supports including Pat Deegan's Personal Medicine Toolbox
- Escort to and engage members in 12-step and other sobriety/recovery supports both on and off campus as appropriate
- Members will be supported with random drug screens and access to other 12-step recovery materials and coaching
- Exploring different areas of a productive life
- Illness and Recovery Management Skills based in DBT principles including use of Distress Tolerance Plans and 24/7 coaching
- Community engagement activities through individual and group trips, volunteer work
- Effective and collaborative engagement with legal authorities (PO, Courts, etc.) to help members remain viable in the community
- Budget and financial skills coaching including banking, expense management, savings, and anticipating future expenses
- Provide specific training to members relevant to their assessed skills deficits
- Will assist with meal preparation for members
- Will assist with maintaining a clean and neat home
- Conduct and document member face to face observation per P and P
- Prepare shift notes for assigned members
- All documentation to be completed on day service is provided
- Monitor and document self-administration of medications by members
- Complete all trainings and continuing education requirement
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- The residential advisor will have either a Bachelor degree, an Associate Degree and one year of relevant experience or two years or more of relevant experience working in a therapeutic community and/or psychiatric care facility.
- This position might require mandated overtime in which the staff member understands that they are required to remain at the workplace for an additional shift

- Staff will seek out appropriate support, consultation with and supervision from the Program Director, when they are uncertain about how to respond or support a Member effectively.
- Staff will report back to the treatment Program Director and the Team, any observations of Member behavior that suggests Member may need additional treatment interventions and/or support.
- Staff will engage with all external parties/individuals with appropriate professionalism and with a positive customer service approach, understanding that they are representing the organization at all times.
