Job Description :
Knickerbocker Group's Property Management division is hiring for a multi-talented handyperson position. We are seeking a candidate who has an interest, and has a proven job history, in providing a diverse range of handyperson and property caretaking services.Trim carpenters, licensed electricians (minimum Journeyman), and other skilled craftspeople are encouraged to apply, and compensation is dependent on qualifications and experience. The handyperson position is a full-time, year-round, and benefit eligible position - this is an excellent opportunity to join a 100% employee-owned team with Maine's leading & award-winning design-build firm!Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and reliable transportation.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Example Handyperson duties can include but are not limited to:
    • Wide range of maintenance, upkeep, and repair tasks.
    • Opening and closing seasonal homes.
    • Moving furniture and entire homes.
    • Performing maintenance jobs and light repairs.
    • Completing light painting and carpentry work.
    • Cleaning out estates.
    • Hanging pictures.
    • Removing trash and doing dump runs.
    • Providing general labor and clean up on construction job sites.
    • Removing moss and mildew.
    • Cleaning out gutters.
    • Delivering and stacking firewood.
    • Meeting delivery trucks.
    • Removing snow.
    • Responding to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Example Trim Carpenter position duties can include but are not limited to:
    • Gathering materials.
    • Cleaning and prepping the worksite.
    • Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed.
    • Cutting, shaping and smoothing lumber and other materials according to measurements.
    • Installing materials per manufacturer recommendations.
    • Constructing building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
    • Utilizing finish carpentry tools and techniques as well as levels and surveying equipment to ensure all is level and secure.
    • Inspecting and replacing damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
    • Developing estimates for carpentry projects.
  • Example Electrician position duties (appropriate licensure required) can include but are not limited to:
    • Replacing or installing light fixtures.
    • Installing outdoor/landscape lighting.
    • Replacing outlets and GFCIs.
    • Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with circuit breakers, electrical switches and outlets.
    • Light duty wiring.
    • Staying up to date and following current electrical code.
    • Developing estimates for electrical repair/maintenance projects.
The ideal candidate has:
  • a high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • a valid driver's license.
  • basic understanding of the construction process.
  • competent with basic power tools.
  • experience with a wide variety of construction materials.
  • basic understanding of plumbing and electrical; licensed electricians for Electrician + Handyperson position.
  • excellent attention to detail.
  • strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • the ability to trouble shoot, problem solve and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • a positive attitude, teamwork spirit with a willingness to help.
