Job Summary:

Leads and directs the work of subordinates engaged in maintaining harmonious relations and discipline among residents in group-living situations. Scheduling staff to provide quality coverage and services for clients.

Job Duties:

Schedules subordinates work to ensure adequate supervision of the facility and clients 24 hours per day. Provides training for staff members as needed. Monitors the supervision and guidance of the clients to improve their work performance. Schedules and conducts meetings as required. Reports and consults with appropriate personnel any serious behavioral or adjustment problems or clients. Confers with subordinates to discuss and resolve problems they encounter daily. Performs inspections to maintain a safe, clutter-free, harmonious, and caring environment supportive of the clients recovery. Develops staff schedules, manages, and oversees the work assignments and performance. Oversees staff recordkeeping, ensuring recordkeeping is current. Maintains work reports, checks work of subordinates, and makes sure all written information is complete and accurate. Approves leaves, recommends disciplinary action, and prepares performance plans. Resolves simple and informal complaints of employees and refers others to the supervisor. Informs supervisors on employee performance, training needs, and behavioral problems. Participates in a multi-disciplinary team concerning client care and management. Keeps clinical staff and directors informed on all clinical and administrative issues. Provides guidance and instruction in group activities, personal health, and hygiene, courtesy, and etiquette to clients. Attends activities as directed to assist in the management of the clients behavior. Oversees residential service activities with other department staff. Attends and participates in department and other programs or clinical and administrative meetings. Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times and protect all personal health information as it relates to patient data. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises three (3) subordinate supervisors who supervise twenty-one (21) to forty (40) employees in the Behavioral Health Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Must possess a Bachelors degree from a 4-year college or university in education, counseling, psychology, social work, alcohol, and substance abuse counseling, or a mental health-related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

At least five (5) years of experience in a related field is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

An individual should know Human Resource systems, Payroll systems, and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be certified in CPR/First Aid and maintain throughout employment. CPR may be obtained during orientation. Current Food Handler Permit required. Residential Child and Youth Care Professional Training (RCYCP) certification required.Mandt System Trainer certification required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

Must meet and maintain periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee may occasionally be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct/adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather related); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather related); and extreme heat (non-weather related). The sound level in the work environment is usually moderate.
