Experience:

  • Every other Friday and Saturday Night

Position Summary: Respiratory therapists assist patients who have breathing difficulties. These include chronic respiratory diseases, such as emphysema and asthma. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regimes prescribed by physicians.
  • Responsible for the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of Respiratory Care, proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to Respiratory Care treatments and diagnostic testing.
  • Recommend and initiate appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities, implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician.
  • Must have the ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care is delivered to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Responsible for all general respiratory care duties including but not limited to administration of aerosol therapy, arterial blood draws and analysis, ECG's, pulmonary function screening, oxygen administration, and incentive spirometry.
  • Intensive care experience must include arterial line management, ventilator maintenance and troubleshooting, intubation and extubating of patient
  • Subject to irregular hours.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.
  • Follow infection control and isolations guidelines.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: The Respiratory Therapist must have the ability to move around freely, walk and sit for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance.
