Under general supervision, actively incorporates the company's Philosophy for Person-Directed Care. assists residents in various therapeutic activities designed to aid them regain more independent lives, especially after injury or illness. Develops awareness of residents' interests and needs, and assists residents to maximize their independence and participation. Creates a safe environment in which to provide direct resident care and assist in residents' activities of daily living. Performs basic Certified Nursing Assistant duties as well as helping residents gain an improved quality of life by increasing their level of strength and mobility through rehabilitation and restorative nursing care.Schedule:6:00 AM - 2:30 PMWage: $18.50 to $21.50 per hr, depending on experience.
- Works with residents for physical rehabilitation; encourages and assists residents in self-care activities;
- Ambulates residents; assists residents to performs strengthening exercises for ambulation after hip or leg fractures have healed;
- Suggests adaptive equipment and works with resident using adaptive equipment, such as walkers and wheelchairs;
- Assists in feeding rehabilitation; notes residents' changes of eating, drinking and swallowing habits, changes in utensil use, drops in appetite;
- Works with residents in strengthening, endurance, positioning, standing and safety exercises;
- Assists with resident transfer training and transfer safety programs;
- Maintains awareness of client's condition and keeps supervisor informed;
- Records and/or reports residents' physical gains or decreases in activity and distances;
- May assists in training staff on new or existing adaptive equipment and in skill required for transfers, lifting and exercise programs;
- May obtains assistance from staff to bring down and remove residents;
- Assists physical therapist, as needed;
- Attends in-service training workshops and meetings as required; may attend Patient Care Meetings;
- Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the facility safety program;
- Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers;
- Promotes and protects the rights of each resident;
- Performs other related essential duties as required.
- Actively engages residents in participation in daily activities which are part of resident's rhythm of daily life (including desired hygiene, grooming, and mobility);
- Will be proactive in organizing residents' care and alerting the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to needed changes in resident's plan of care;
- Will take initiative in identifying the resident's needs, wants, and preferences; and encourage autonomy of residents in decision-making;
- Will participate in planned and unplanned activities and/or appointments with residents (including care plan meetings);
- Work in collaboration to ensure each resident has the necessary supplies, equipment, materials, and recourses to continue to pursue interests individually, or in cooperation with others;
- Will contribute to creating a home environment in each community;
- Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents including (paper and electronic) flow sheets, memos, correspondence, and other reports and records;
Qualifications:
- CNA Certification Required
- Restorative Aide Certification
