SCHWEITZER EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION Application open to returning staff only JOB TITLE / DEPARTMENT : Night Lift Operator /Lift Services POSITION TYPE : Seasonal PAY RATE : 1 5 . 50 - 1 6 . 50 Per Hour DOE SUPERVISORY : No SUPERVISED BY : Night Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY : Operates chairlifts with guest's safety and enjoyment as primary duty. Elevated level of guest interaction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Responsible for the safe night operation of chairlift equipment and the safety of guests while they are around equipment. Maintain lift ramp and snow removal . Will physically aid children and handicapped skiers onto chairlifts. Lift operators call Lift Maintenance if mechanical problems develop. Operators have a higher ability and experience rating and are responsible for Safety; driving the equipment/motor rooms. Position is an integral part of mountain message relay system . Works closely with Ski Patrol, Ski School , and Grooming Dept. PHYSICAL DEMANDS : This is a combined sitting and standing/walking position for up to 8 hours each . May lift up to 100 lbs. , rarely; will boost children onto lift and shovel snow; aid is available for heavy lifting. Workers will bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist and reach above shoulder level occasionally. Will use hands for grasping and pushing/pulling at a 25 lb. to 30 lb. rate . Worksites can be up to 100% outside . Exposed to all temperatures and all moisture ranges . Hazards are mechanical, electrical, burns, and ice/snow . Uniforms are supplied . Sensory skills needed are vision, hearing, speech, smell, and touch. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES : High guest contact requires extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and events and a full understanding of Schweitzer's guest service standards . Responsibilities are listed as guidelines and the position is not necessarily limited to these items. JOB SPECIFICATIONS : SKILLS : Interpersonal and basic supervisory skills needed as well as guest service an d teamwork skills . Problem solving and conflict resolution. EDUCATION : English reading, writing and communication skills. EXPERIENCE : Minimum 1 year working on chairlifts . Previous lift operator experiences preferred. LICENSE NEEDED : None MACHINES OR TOOLS OPERATED : Hand tools, shovels, brooms, Pulaski , rakes, snow blower, chairlifts. JUDGEMENT / MENTAL COMPLEXITY : Moderate to proficient; workers are trained to shut down machinery and make decisions . Must occasionally make quick decisions regarding the safety of up to 200 guests . Must be able to keep control and rational demeanor in emotionally charged situations involving guests and/or employees in situations that may have an audience (i.e., large lift lines).
