Category Marine DescriptionPosition: Rigger Reports To: Foreman Summary: Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plant, shipyard, or on construction project by performing the following duties. Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Works with craft personnel and assist in removing scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt from equipment.
- Utilize shovels and other hand equipment to move products from one place to another as directed.
- Utilize mops and brooms to clean areas of work free of clutter and environmentally friendly.
- Inspect tools for safe usage prior to delivering and/or removing tools from work locations.
- Inspect and select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
- Ensures that a proper inventory of equipment is readily available in trucks, trailers or other tool storage areas.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, by the use of tag lines.
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads in order to ensure safety of workers, equipment and materials.
- Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook.
- Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment.
- Assist in the loading, unloading and securing of loads for transportation.

- Dismantle and store rigging equipment out of environmental elements after each use.
Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Riggers must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
