  • As a Lease Payment Analyst, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing lease agreements related to periodic rentals for land use.
  • This involves ensuring that all terms are accurately interpreted and applied, which is crucial for maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
  • You will also ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments, adhering strictly to contractual terms and conditions to avoid any missed payments.
  • Collaboration is a significant part of this role.
  • You will work closely with Land Representatives, accounting teams, and other departments such as Operations, Financial Reporting, Audit, Legal, Commercial, Facilities, and Tax to resolve any issues that arise, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Strong communication skills will be essential in collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders, addressing inquiries, resolving complex issues, and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records:Maintaining accurate records is another important responsibility.
  • This role regularly updates records, tracks critical dates, and inputs lease data, land descriptions, and relevant documents into the Land database.
  • Additionally, digital mapping software, such as Google Earth and ArcGIS, is used routinely to visualize land parcels and boundaries, aiding in accurate land rights management.
  • Responsibilities also include initiating and preparing lease renewals and terminations, including those with government entities such as the Texas General Land Office, Port of Houston Authority, State of New Mexico, and others.
  • You will provide interpretation and reporting of contract rights and obligations to various departments, set up and maintain lease and receivable electronic and hard-copy files, and process and review physical and digital lease files for monthly payment reports.
  • You will interface with Land Representatives to research pipeline facility information, calculate Consumer Price Index adjustments for lease payments, and address changes in ownership and questions regarding lease and term agreement payments.

Skills Required

  • Required Skills:
  • To succeed in this role, you must have proficiency in reviewing and analyzing surface leases, term easement agreements, permits, and licenses.
  • Attention to detail, adaptability, and excellent problem-solving skills are essential for addressing and resolving complex issues.
  • Familiarity with digital mapping tools for land visualization is also required.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in the administration of midstream surface rights and familiarity with easement and right-of-way (ROW) database agreement set-up are highly desirable.
  • A Certificate in Land Management is a plus.
  • Previous experience with contracts and document management in Midstream Energy (ROW), and proficiency with Oracle are preferred.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in surface lease contract administration or accounts payable is required for this position.
