Position Description:

Exciting opportunity to be a member of a fast-paced and energized team of actuaries and analysts building a streamlined and data-driven modernized actuarial systems environment. We are looking for a Lead Analyst to drive business value through support for the actuarial function and staff related to data, systems, and operational services.

This position performs the duties of actuarial model steward through version control, process, documentation, analysis, testing, and integration related to our model development actuarial tools. Additionally, this position is responsible for leading some aspects of analytical support for actuarial financial and risk reporting, modeling and analysis, valuation, and experience analysis, with a heavy focus on data. The role provides analysis and resolves complex problems/issues on a timely basis, completely and accurately.

Position Location:

  • This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

What you do:

  • Define and perform operational processes on a timely basis, completely and accurately, and present process enhancements.
  • Ensure controls are performed and documented, including assisting in the gate-keeper function for actuarial application code, ensuring that documentation and sign-off requirements are met prior to code migration.
  • Create, analyze, and maintain input and output files related to actuarial systems by analyzing, validating, and documenting data and definitions from multiple systems.
  • Perform business analysis requirement development, testing, and validation of changes for actuarial software, data, and systems, identifying and tracking anomalies as necessary.
  • Participate in the implementation and support of tools for the actuarial department, helping to ensure that technology solutions support business processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership support to other team members and project and process oversight, facilitation, and ownership.
  • Prepare and analyze materials and communicate appropriately to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with appropriate standards.
  • Ensure continuous professional self-development.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required, with focus on Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Insurance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • 2 or more years of experience using databases (Snowflake preferred) and querying/analysis tools (SQL and PowerBI preferred).
  • Desired skills, knowledge, and experiences include:
    • Coding experience (VBA, R, Python, or similar preferred).
    • Solid understanding of and experience working with financial and/or operational controls.
    • Experience working with Life, Annuity, Retirement, and/or Disability Income products.
    • Experience leading teams and/or projects.
