Job Description SummaryProvides direct line leadership for Endocrine Clinic. Ensures proper standards are followed for nursing practice and provides interface between the support services and clinical services. Facilitates care delivery system development and operation, including but not limited to staffing and professional delivery of services. Manages daily operations of clinical and clerical employees, including staffing schedules, while maintaining an efficient and professional work atmosphere. Develops and sets goals at the process, job, and interface level to ensure optimal patient care to meet overall organizational goals/standards. Provides outpatient diabetes education to patients and families. Provides life skills management for patients with newly diagnosed or poorly managed diabetes, as well as refresher for any person with diabetes. Provides community health education and participates in community events. Educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity, and glucose testing. Provides life skills management for patients with newly diagnosed or poorly managed diabetes, as well as refresher for any person with diabetes.Provides community education regarding a variety of health and illness states.Participates in community events such as screenings and health fairs.Functions as a navigator for patients of the Healthy Living Center.Organizes and coordinates weekly multidisciplinary care planning conferences.Performs clerical functions for the center, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, signing in/outpatients, insurance verifications, service authorizations, verifies insurance coverage, collects payments, and counsels patients on financial responsibility for services.Provides direct line leadership for Endocrine Clinic.Ensures proper standards are followed for nursing practice and provides interface between the support services and clinical services.Performs other duties as required.Physical RequirementsPhysical requirements are primarily related to the essential functions of any job in order to perform the essential functions of this position you must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, talk and listen.Must be able to lift or exert energy up to 10 pounds, 50% of the time and 25 pounds 25% of the time and 50 pounds 25% of the time. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).Mental RequirementsMust possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret complex scientific, clinical or business journals, financial reports or legal documents. Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, staff and members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, large public groups and boards of directors.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with concrete and abstract concepts and interpret verbal, nonverbal and written instructions.Population ServedThis position primarily interacts with adult age groups and may provide direct patient care. All staff members must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related needs of the persons in the assigned work area.Additional Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in nursing or Registered nurse in the state of South Carolina with three (3) years' experience in a clinical specialty. BLS certification required.
