Job Description :

The RN Hospitalist plays a vital role in patient care here at IU Health Bloomington. This role acts as an extension of the physician in various scenarios. Their primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: rounding with a Physician for our in-patient acuity units (Med/Obs, 3E, 3W, 4E, and 5E), document vital patient information into Cerner, Teletracking, and Diagnotes to ensure patient information is updated for incoming Physicians, and ordering medications/labs.

This role is not bedside heavy and focuses more on the crucial in-between details throughout the facility. The RN Hospitalist role can be very rewarding as you impact patient care facility wide. To succeed in this role, you must have strong clinical knowledge, the ability to multi-task, and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
