Job Description :
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor the health status of oncology patients, including physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor patients during and after treatments for side effects, complications, and adverse reactions, including managing nausea, pain, fatigue, and hematologic abnormalities.
- Educate patients and their families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, potential side effects, and symptom management.
- Collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families coping with the psychological impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Administer blood products, pain management therapies, and other supportive treatments as necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient care, including treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up care.
- Monitor laboratory results (e.g., blood counts, liver function) and work with the healthcare team to adjust treatment as needed.
- Educate patients about lifestyle changes, nutritional support, and self-care strategies to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
- Assist with the management of cancer-related complications such as infections, bleeding, and organ dysfunction.
- Advocate for patients, providing information and resources to support their care and decision-making process.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required;
- Experience in oncology nursing or a clinical setting with exposure to cancer care preferred.
- Strong knowledge of chemotherapy regimens, side effects, and management.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Compassionate, patient-centered care approach, with a focus on both physical and emotional well-being.
