Job Description :
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and monitor the health status of oncology patients, including physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patients during and after treatments for side effects, complications, and adverse reactions, including managing nausea, pain, fatigue, and hematologic abnormalities.
  • Educate patients and their families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, potential side effects, and symptom management.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, radiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families coping with the psychological impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Administer blood products, pain management therapies, and other supportive treatments as necessary.
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care, including treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up care.
  • Monitor laboratory results (e.g., blood counts, liver function) and work with the healthcare team to adjust treatment as needed.
  • Educate patients about lifestyle changes, nutritional support, and self-care strategies to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
  • Assist with the management of cancer-related complications such as infections, bleeding, and organ dysfunction.
  • Advocate for patients, providing information and resources to support their care and decision-making process.
Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required;
  • Experience in oncology nursing or a clinical setting with exposure to cancer care preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of chemotherapy regimens, side effects, and management.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered care approach, with a focus on both physical and emotional well-being.
