Unit NotesDepartment: Adolescent Psych CPEP | RN*Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALs, Prefer CPI- willing to train if needed.*- # Beds: 45 Beds, divided into sections.- Fast Track/Triage: 0 Section designated to triage and fast-trak patients.- Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER?: Available in house 24/7.- On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day?: 15-45/day.- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:6-12 depending on acuity. Typical Staffing: 2 Triage RNs, 4 RNs designated to Adults, 1 RN designated to Pediatrics/Adolescents, and 1 Charge (8 RNs Totals).- Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALs, Prefer CPI- willing to train if needed.- Common diagnoses: Patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more; often patients will have multiple comorbidities, but are typically medically stable. Medically unstable patients are transferred out.- Experience: Must have 1 year of psych experience. Prefer someone with some medical experience (MS, MS-Tele, PCU, ICU, etc). Do NOT need prior ED experience. Prefer someone with de-escalation experience and leather restraint use. Will accept first time travelers. - Medications: No IVs. IM injections and PO medication administration. Psychotropics (Haldol, Zyprexa, Ativan, etc.).- ED Physician/Mid-Levels: 3 psych physician on days, 1 psych physician and 1 psych resident on nights. 1 Medical Physician on each shift. Physician Shifts: 8-8.- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Director oversees entire facility; Charge doesn't take a patient assignment; coordinates unit and assists staff as needed.- Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties?: PCTs - Job Duties: Phlebotomy, 12 Lead EKGs, 1:1s, transport, ADLs, pt contraband search, property inventory, assisting physicians and nurses, and more.- Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's?: Yes, RT available.- RT Equipment- Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: RT available and will administer breathing treatments and assist in escalating any resp needs; Equipped to intubate patients when need but then would transfer them out. - Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors?: No Cardiac monitoring, Tele available for code situation and RNs asked to be able to identify major rhythms, life threatening rhythms, and rhythm changes.- X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport?: Xray and CT available in main MER, PCTs transport. - Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw?: PCTs do blood draws.- Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7:30. Will be scheduled according to the needs of the units, they are expected to fill gaps in permanent scheduling; willing to work with RTO requests; Able to trade with perm staff.- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.- Holiday Requirements: May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation.- Is there call or a standby requirement?: None- Floating Requirements: May be asked to float to inpatient units.- Scrub Color: Royal Blue - Unit Specific Orientation: 3 weeks of orientation, 1 week of classroom, 1 week for inpatient units, and 1 week for assigned unit.Date Entered On: 8/16/2024
