Contract Length:
o Approximate Start Date: 28 Jan 25
Expected Schedule:
o Night Shifts: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
o 36-48 hours per week – OT paid after 40 hours
Qualifications:
o RN Nursing License eligible to practice in Louisiana
o One Year Experience working in Psychiatric Care, Addiction Medicine, or Mental Health REQUIRED / Two Years Preferred
o Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
o Crisis Prevention Institute Certification (CPI) - preferred
o Must have the ability to pass extensive professional and personal background investigation to include drug screening
Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with mental health disorders. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals experiencing emotional, psychological, and/or behavioral challenges. The Psych RN collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver holistic and patient-centered care, promoting mental well-being and recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
1\. Patient Assessment and Care
o Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental and physical health.
o Develop and implement individualized care plans.
o Administer medications and monitor their effects.
o Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis management.
2\. Patient Advocacy
o Advocate for patients' mental and physical health needs.
o Provide education and resources to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatments.
3\. Team Collaboration
o Work closely with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare providers.
o Participate in case conferences and treatment planning meetings.
4\. Documentation and Compliance
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
o Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.
5\. Crisis Management
o Respond to and manage psychiatric emergencies.
o De-escalate situations involving agitated or violent patients using approved techniques.
6\. Education and Professional Development
o Stay current with best practices in psychiatric nursing through ongoing education and training.
o Participate in staff training and mentoring of new nurses.
Immunizations: Required for Submission:
o TUBERCULOSIS TESTING: Shall provide proof of a negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or interferon-gamma release assays (IGRA)
o A negative chest radiographic report for active tuberculosis shall be provided in cases of positive TST or IGRA results. The TST or IGRA testing shall be repeated annually.
Immunizations: Required after approval prior to Orientation:
o MEASLES, MUMPS, & RUBELLA TESTING: Shall provide proof of immunity for all physicians.
o VARICELLA
o ACELLULAR PERTUSSIS: Shall provide proof of 1 dose of Tdap vaccination
o INFLUENZA: Shall provide proof of the annual Influenza vaccine unless it is contraindicated. If the physician has a medical contraindication to the vaccine, they shall be required to wear a mask during the Influenza season.
