Responsibilities: Demonstrates expertise in the execution of daily patient care, providing collaboration, direction and instruction to the staff in the application and utilization of current wound care protocols Provides safety, comfort, care and treatment of patients according to established legal, ethical and institutional standards Attend wound care education programs designed to enhance benefits patients can derive from the most recent techniques / procedures available Provides teaching to patients and families on preventative, curative and rehabilitative measures involved in wound care Documents all patient education activities Provides care and teaching to patients who have complex and/or non-healing woundsClinical Tasks Application of wound care ointments and surgical dressings Sterile and non-sterile dressing changes Application of silver nitrate for debridement Perform conservative sharp debridement when indicated Application of drainage collection devices and pouches Perform quantitative swab cultures Linear wound measurement Wound irrigation and cleansing Application of Venous Compression Wraps Diabetic foot examinations Perform ankle-brachial index test Whirlpool Application and monitoring of vacuum assisted closure devices Adjunctive modalities- (required documentation of advanced training and competency) electrical simulation, ultrasound, Anodyne therapy, pulsed lavage Hand check for bottoming out related to appropriate and adequate pressure reduction/relief desires Perform skin integrity body assessment Suture removalQualifications:Education:
Graduate of a registered nursing program
Experience:
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
Current RN licensure
BLS certification
Must have a copy of a diploma or offical transcript of the highest level of education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
