Job Description :
Our client is looking for an experienced Roadway Design Project Manager to join their Transportation team on-site in North Carolina or Virginia, or remotely in the Eastern US. This organization provides world-class traffic engineering, roadway design, and civil engineering services to clients throughout the Southeast. The Roadway Design Project Manager will support the team by providing designs, management, and execution of transportation department projects. This position will be responsible for managing project budgets and deadlines and for providing Quality Control efforts. Additionally, the Project Manager will support business development efforts.The successful candidate can sit in any of our client's offices in North Carolina: Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Wilmington, or Asheville. This position is hybrid - three (3) days in the office and two (2) days from home. If you live outside one of these office locations, remote working is an option for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide project management including planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating design projects to ensure company objectives are met
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation of design drawings in accordance with various federal, state, and municipal standards governing the design of roadway engineering projects.
  • Provides design guidance to production staff and QA/QC
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable (LMA) project engineers
  • Prepare drawings using MicroStation/GEOPAK, AutoTURN, and/or similar type software. OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus
  • Prepares project bit documents/specifications
  • Oversees quantities and cost estimating efforts
  • Involved with project administrative activities including proposal preparation, monthly billing, billing projections, etc.
  • Maintain client satisfaction/confidentiality
  • Assists with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
Education, Certifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited university
    • Master's degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus
  • Possess Professional Engineering license (in, or ability to obtain in, NC and/or VA, SC)
  • 5+ years of transportation engineering experience
  • Experience working with state and local public agencies
  • Possess strong analytical, decision making, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Use strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCad engineering software packages standard in the industry
